I am trying to find Kovach lineage in the U.S. According to the 1920 census my grandfather Joseph (spelling?)Kovacs came to the U.S. with Julia Striczky (spelling?) and their first son Mihaly in 1911 from Hungary. Both parents were Magyars, but Joseph could also speak Serbo-Croatian. Two more sons were born, Joseph Jr. (my father) in 1914 and Istvan in 1918. Joseph and Julia were married in 1918. They all lived at that time in Cleveland, Ohio where Joseph Sr. was a bricklayer. My father went by the name "Kovach" married Elizabeth (Bessie) Kosa, Steve as far as I know never married and Michael married "Marie" and I know they had at least one son who I knew as "Richie." There are no local records on Michael in the Cleveland area. I know he died (was shot) sometime probably in the '40's. According to my father, there were relatives in New Jersey and he may have been referring to Mike and Marie living there. I am looking for descendants of Michael Kovach (Kovacs) especially his son Richie. I am the only Kovach that I know of and if there are others, I'd like to find them. Does anyone recognize Uncle Steve of Cleveland and Uncle Joe and Aunt Bessie also of Cleveland. Keeping my fingers crossed.
