These names do not soung Hungarian at all! They are of Slavic origins, most likely Croatian.

KOVACSISH and KOWACICH are of Croatian origins... original spelling KOVAC"IC"... the W is not found in the Croatian alphabet but in German would sound like a vee...this brings up the point of Ocdenburg which is incorrect... it is Odenburg Hungary which is near the region of Burgenland Austria. That part of Austria until after WW I had been part of the Kingdom of Hungary... and that is the region where many Croatians fled when the Ottoman Turks invaded and occupied much of Croatia in the 1520s... many of those Croats were Croatian nobility... whose names would be Magyarized and Germanized... as you can see from the spellings shown in these messages... IC in Croatian is ICS in Magyar... ICH in English and German may be shown as ITSCH or ITZ.

The only listings I found for KOVASCKITZ are in Ohio, Stephen and Mary and family 1920 census and other records... but in 1900 census they are recorded as KOVASHITZ Stephen and Mary and children Mary, Agnes and Stephen born in Hungary.. immigration year listed as 1889... then in 1910 census they are recorded as KOVASCHTZ... all records from Seneca County Ohio and in the 1910 census they are listed as... Croatian
