What was language spoken by your ancestors? Do you have their arrival manifest or any US document that would have a precise place of birth in old Hungary?
Bruinovski, Brunyanski or Brunanski - this seems a Slavic surname. SKI is Polish and SKY Slovak ending but as we know in America anything goes.
Brunanska, Maria Imreg, Cz. Slov. 40 1881 1921
Brunovski, Janos Kapolna 18 1889 1907
Brunovsky, Anna Prenburg, Hungary 21 1886 1907
Brunovszki, Anastazia Egbell, Hungary 17 1894 1911
Brunovszki, Mihaly 45 1852 1897
Brunovszky, Josef Egbell, Hungary 27 1884 1911
Brunovszky, Karoly Kapalna, Hungary 17 1893 1910
Brunovszky, Margit Emans, U.S.A. 23 1889 1912
Brunovszky, Pal Nahacs, Hungary 18 1887 1905
Found them arriving to America thru NY
KOVACH is an Americanized version of KOVACS (Hungarian) and KOVAC^ (Slovak-Slavic)
