"Kiss" and "Kovacs" are both very common surnames in Hungary. At last count, I have discovered I have four different Kiss ancestral lines, and three different Kovacs ancestral lines. You'll be interested to hear that one of my great-grandfathers was a Joseph Kiss (1849-1909), but his wife was Julianna Pataki (1856-1931).

The names you gave do not appear in any of the info I've collected thus far. Is it possible for you to get more specific information on where your grandparents were born? The Mormons have done an amazing job microfilming all Hungarian records (whether Catholic or Jewish), and it's very likely that records for your family do exist. You just need the exact place of origin...

By the way, my great-grandfather, Joseph Kiss, was b. in Zemplenagard [Zemplen megye], very close to the Ukraine. A connection is indeed possible.

Hope this helps!
