Robert,

I have started tracing my family tree, and while I can find quite a lot of stuff regarding my paternal side of the family, I'm at a loss for the maternal side. Here's what info I do have:

My mother's father was Charles Kovacs. He was born June 11, 1887, somewhere in Hungary. His father's name was George Kovacs, and he had a brother named Steve Kovacs. He moved to Toledo OH sometime in the 1920's, and his brother moved to Detroit MI where he owned a bar called "Netovab", which means "Don't go any futher". My grandpa married my grandmother, whose name was Mary Kurtolick. I do know that she is from Heves Megye. Her parents were Steve Kurtolick and Anna Homini, and she had three brothers that I know of, Balint, John and Guszti. My mom thinks, but is not positive, that my grandpa was from the same area in Hungary. I would appreciate any information you may have to share. I wouldn't even know where to write in Hungary for the info! I am expecting a lot of difficulty with my paternal side too, because that name is Toth, which is just about as common as Smith. Also, they come from Torna Horvati, which I know is now in Slovakia, and I don't even know if the village still has the same name.
Thank you!
Jennifer
