The History of Tuscola County, Biographical Sketches and Illustrations, H.R. Page Co., Chicago, 1883.

"Town of Koylton - Koylton was organized by the board of supervisors, at a meeting held October 11, 1859...The names of freeholders in the township to be organized, who signed the application, are as follows: James L. Hitchcock, Allen Hubel, James McAdam, James A. Cross, Levy Koyl, Donald McKenzie, Joseph Morris, John Cameron, Jr., Thomas Jeffrey, John Cameron, Sr., Thomas McAdam, Anthony McMangle, Peter Koyl, Sr., A. Ducoln, Henry Murdick, and Orvil Koyl."

Kingston(formerly Koylton) Centennial Booklet(1957):
"Whereas first recorded settler who came upon any part of the present site of Kingston was Alonson K. King in January, 1857 and whereas other settlers came to this community immediately thereafter and it became know as Koylton until May 28, 1867, when it was changed to Newberry and known as such until February 16, 1871, when it was changed to Kingston...Koylton was organized by the board of supervisors, at a meeting held October 11, 1859. The annual first meeting was held at the home of William Allen. There were 18 freeholders in the township that signed the application: James Hitchcock, Allen Huble, James McAdams, James A. Cross, Levi Koyl, Donald McKenzie, James McKenzie, John McKenzie, John Cameron, Jr., Thomas Jeffrey, John Cameron, Sr., Thomas McAdams, Anthony McMangle, Peter Koyl, Sr., A. Dullcan, Henry Gergill, Orvill Koyl and Joseph Morris. The Township was named after Peter Koyl. He lived in sections 29, 30, and 32."

Early Koylton Land Records-Township 11 North, Range 11 East:
Peter Koyl - Applied October 13, 1857
Orville Koyl - Applied May 13, 1857 for land in Section 29
Orville Koyl - Applied May 13, 1857 for land in Section 30
Peter Koyl - Applied May 2, 1859 for land in Section 32(160 acres) Application says Peter Koyl from Canada West(Ontario).

I hope this helps someone down the line, I am researching the Koyl family and would appreciate any help. I have alot of info on the Koyl family but I'm having a hard time putting the pieces together. Thanks!
