Michael Kraus (Krauss) in Schuylkill PA c 1860

I am seeking information about a Michael Kraus who shows up on the 1860 Census in Tamaqua, Schuylkill Co PA. He was single, living in the home of a man named Adams, working as a brewers apprentice.

I believe this is my husband's great-great-grandfather, who subsequently moved to Fairfield Co OH area, and married there in 1866 (to Clara Freed).

Can anyone tell me about the Krauses (or Krausses) who may have come into Schuylkill through the port of Philadelphia between 1850 and 1860?
