My Krech ancestor, Wilhelm (William) Krech immigrated in 1880 at the age of 15 and settled in Paterson NJ.His sister Christine immigrated in 1885.I believe they came from Hildburghausen based on a photograph studio name on two photos of their parents, c 1885-90.Hildburghausen is also on the Werra River in the area you described for Wernshausen (I cannot find Wernshausen on my German map).William's and Christine's parents' names were Georg and Louise Krech, according to American marriage and death certificates.Georg and Louise had 3 other (younger) children (names unknown) whom they would not allow to emigrate.
Shortly after WWII, a second cousin of mine received a letter from a Krech descendent in Breitungen (then East Germany) asking for financial assistance.Breitungen is halfway between Hildburghausen and Eisenach. The letter and name was lost.
I have no other information on the Krech families in Germany. The only name bearing American descendents of Wilhelm are myself and two brothers (in OR, VA, and MD), and a cousin once removed (in NJ).
If you see some link between Georg Krech of Hildburghausen and the German Krech's you have traced, I would appreciate your information.
Don Krech
