My husband's father, Peter Kryptowicz, was born in Kovno, Russia in 1898. His parents were Dominique and Helen. His listed occupation upon arrival at Ellis Island was a fireman. He fled to the United States at the time of the Bolshevik Revolution. He may have been a stowaway on one of the ships arriving at Ellis Island in the early 1920's. He arrived with a brother who went on to Chicago. No word of his brother ... or even his name. Peter lived in the Bowery for a time and then moved to New Hampshire to work for the Interstate Bus company as a mechanic. Also was a member of the QuarterMaster before moving to New Hampshire. Met and married Mary Smith Frenier in approximately 1940. My husband, Peter, was born in April of 1946.
I am also very interested in learning about our ancestry. I hope I have given you some useful information as well.
