Would like to hear from anyone who is doing research on Kroegers of Rock Island County, IL -- (cities of Moline & Rock Island). I have a George Kroeger, b. 10 Oct 1871 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, near the North sea. His father, John Kroeger, used to put up markers to guide ships into the harbor. When George was 9 or 10 yrs. old, his parents decided to come to America, and they settled in Moline where several of John Kroeger's sisters lived. Who were John's sisters? John worked for the city. He died in 1888 and George Kroeger's mother died in 1899. George married Amanda Koch July 30, 1900 in Moline, IL. George & Amanda had 2 daughters, Janet, who died when 20 months old, and Alice, who resided in Chicago where her husband, A. J. (Duke) DuQuaine, operated a lectern business.
I have researched my husband's Kroeger family for many years, but have yet to determine if George is somehow related. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have a clue. Sincerely, Carol Kroeger
