Marjorie: William Krohn was my great-great grandfather (b. 1832). He came to Canada in 1850 with his sisters Maria/Mary (b. 1834) and Sophia (1836?). William married Catherine Wilfong. Maria/Mary married Michael Wilfong and Sophia married David Wilfong. (3 Krohns married 3 Wilfong siblings.)
The parents of William, Maria and Sophia were Christian and Christina Maria Krohn (nee Kabel?) Area of origin is Mecklenber-Schwerin in North Eastern Germany. William was a very well-educated man in Germany. He moved up from Waterloo Ontario, eventually settling near Neustadt, Carrick Township, Ontario where his gravestone is now located. I once located the immigration record that showed William, Sophia and Mary (the children) coming over with their mother Christina Maria (b. 1802/3). However, I have been unable to locate Christian (father of William) as arriving in Canada with them. I have a photograph of William and Catherine Krohn taken in Ontario (married 1859). He is dressed in formal clothing. They were all Evangelical Lutherans. I am now looking into Lutheran parishes in Mecklenberg to see if I can find the 3 children. I have not found all three children or Christian and Christina Maria entered consecutively in the "Krohnbuch".
William & Catherine had 7 children (William Ludwig b, 1861, Edward, Ephriam, Ferdinand, Wilhelmina, Catherine and ?. I am the decendent of William Ludwig (Willy Louis)Jr. I have recently connected with the decendents of Ephriam. We are having a wonderful time sharing photos. To my knowledge, this is the most accurate information that I have been able to locate to date. I would appreciate any new information that can be added regarding Christiana Maria or Christian from Mecklenberg-Schwerin area. (She lived to an old age and died while residing with David Wilfong on his farm). She appears in both the 1871 and 1881 Carrick Township Census Records.
