the Krohn coat of arms is registrated in Germany
in several periods through the latest 500 years
the oldest version i am aware of is dated in year
Siebmachers Wappenbuch - a very large enclo-
cypadia of german coat of arms thrugh centuries
keeps it registrated - and shown - both in the old
version and also registrated in 17th century in
the preussian area.
The registartion is under the name Krohn or Krahn = which is similar - Krahn is the old german
name for the bird crane - the letter a was in north
germany pronaunced as an letter o - and so came the change.
The figure on it is a crane with one feet lifted in
which its hold a stone = this is has the symbolic
meaning of "Vigilance" and is earlist desciped
so by Aristoteles in Historia Animalium - in the
ancient greek. - its told when the crane felt asleep
it woul loose the stone over the other feet and
thefore wake up again.
I am not able to scan - so if you could give me your postal adress i could mail you a copy -
On front of the ancient townhall in the German city
Hildesheim it is sculptured in stone - thats where
my familytree goes back to in year 1400.
