Hello,
yes Emden still exists! It is a harbourtown of roundabout 40 000 to 50 000 inhabitants and is situated in Ostfriesland, Lower Saxony, Germany. In the 19.th century it was part of the kingdom of Hannover. But it is far away from the city of Hannover (capital of Lower Saxony today).
Maybe you are related to the Krulls of Simonswolde from this message board. Simonswolde is not that far away from Emden.
