Jasper Krupp, 1860's LA or TX

Searching for ancestor JASPER KRUPP rumored to have travelled to America on the same ship with the girl he would eventually marry, EMELY McCARTY. According to family legend, both were accompanied by other members of their families, their parents and others perhaps. All family members perished during the voyage, except for Jasper and Emely. (Some say due to illness, some say due to shipwreck). At any rate, the two of them did marry and had their only child in 1860, when Emely was only 16 y/o. They may have been in Texas at some point, but were in Morgan City, Louisiana when the daughter was born. Recent addition to the family lore is that they were both taken in as children after the loss of their parents and raised together on a plantation. Jasper supposedly served in the Civil War and had died by 1865. All very vague, I know, but I have searched exhaustively and have never been able to uncover one shred of information on Jasper. Would be delighted with any help!
