H, 2nd Regiment, WV Veteran Infantry Private in Co. E, 1st Regiment, WV Infantry Captain Jacob Ballyell commanding the former Discharged at Clarksburg, WV on July 16, 1865 Alleged that while on duty at Cumberland, MD on or about Apr 1, 1865, he was disabled by diptheria and rheumatism in left shoulder, arm and hip. War Department Record and Pension Division (dated Jan 5, 1891): Frederick Finsley, Co. E, Regiment 1, WV Infantry was enrolled Oct 6, 1861 and mustered out Jul 16, 1865 with Co. H, 2nd Regiment, WV Veteran Infantry to which transferred. Enlisted as Vet Vol Feb 16, 1864. From Dec 31, 1864 to Jul 16, 1865 he held the rank of Pvt. and during that period the rolls show him present except as follows: Feb 28, Apr 30, and Jun 30, '65 "sick at Cumberland, MD since Feb 23, 1865."
