Edward Belfield Kennedy was a son of Thomas Mortimer Kennedy and Maria Louisa Belfield. Thomas M. Kennedy was my dad's uncle and Maria was Milburn's aunt. Consequently, Milburn was a first cousin to Ed Kennedy and so was my dad but they were not related to each other. Milburn was the 2nd child born to Herbert "Bert" Macklin Stone and Laura Anna Belfield. There were four children in this family. "Bert" Stone died in Wichita in 1917; Laura remarried. My dad, by the way, worked with Joe Stone in the old Wichita Beacon in the 30s Joe was Milburn's brother, later moved to CA. Milburn was called "Stony" by those close to him. He visited in my home town of Lyons often, with Wallace Bruce--theatre owner and old vaudeville pal. Hugh Milburn Stone was a much loved man. His grandpa Charles Milton Melfield was his model for the old Doc Galen Adams role in Gunsmoke. His great grandpa Alfred Belfield was a judge and the now-ghost town of Belfield in Rush County was named after him. Ed Kennedy did not die in Chicago, but was buried there in 1940. He has an unmarried daughter who will not answer mail. I've been unable to get an obit or learn where he's buried. There was indeed a marriage license taken out in Dec 1915 in Wichita but it was not returned. Ed Kennedy was listed as being from Newton and the girl from Coffeyville. Subsequent attempts to learn more have been futile. Ed was first wed about 1915, presumably in Newton, but I have not found a record. I doubt he was married in Hutch, and Ed was in business with my dad in Wichita by 1925, left KS by '28. The Bert Stone family lived awhile near Larned but returned to near Wichita in the teens. I have a plethora of BELFIELD family data should you have any interest. I am not kin to the Belfields, either. Thank you so kindly for your response.
