I did a little bit of checking for you on the Morris family. Even though I'm from Reno CO (the next county west of Harvey), we a few good reference books on Harvey CO in our local library. I found 2 items for you: Ida F. Morris was buried in a small cemetery just West of Halstead. The tombstone reads: Ida F., daughter of J.A. & S.A. Morris died 27 Nov 1902 footstone-- I.F.M. Since Ida was about 29 when she died and Halstead is a small town, there was probably an obituary printed. The Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka rents newspaper microfilm. That may be a good next step. I found a William Morris living in Halstead in the 1900 Harvey CO census. It indicates his year of birth as 1852, not 1858 which you listed. Wife Ella, children Forrest, Earl, Hazel, and Opal. The State of Kansas took an agricultural census every ten years on the 5's. You might look into renting the 1895 census and looking for James, William, and Philo on that census. I believe those microfilms are also available through KSHS. Good luck! Let me know if I can be of any more help! Susan Hutchinson, KS Notify Administrator about this message?
