"Died, on the 11th of February at the home of his son, Joseph Stalcup, three and one half miles south-west of Burrton, Father Aaron Stalcup. He was born in Virginia, June, 1826, and hence was sixty-eight years and seven months old at death. He moved some years past to Ken., and twelve years ago with his family he came west. His beloved wife was in poor health when they came west, and hence she lived but a short time after coming to Kansas, and he has since then lived with his beloved children. He leaves seven children to mourn his departure, but their loss is his eternal gain. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church and lived a consistent life and was respected and loved by all who knew him. Two of the sons live near Burrton and one son and daughter in Ohio, two daughters in Wichita, and a son in the western part of the state. The funeral sermon was preached by the pastor of the Baptist Church, Elder W. W. Durham, of Wellington, an old acquaintance of the family. A large crowd attended the funeral and interment. Services held in the Christian Church in Burrton, at 2 p.m. Feb. 12, 1895."
