We have researched the connections between Lincoln, Kansas, and Sedro-Woolley, Washington, for 15 years now because the founder of Lincoln (in 1870), George Green, was also a very prominent pioneer in Skagit County in Washington. He and his son-in-law, Emerson Hammer, emigrated here, starting in 1889. Over the next two decades, nearly 75 people from Lincoln County followed them. We have written extensively on these two families and the early days of Lincoln County at this webiste: http://www.skagitriverjournal.com/S-W/Pioneer/Pre1900/Hammer/Hammer03-LincolnK-Green.html and we hope that readers will help correct any errors or add information that will fill in gaps in the story.
