Looking for information concerning the family of John A. Jackson (the "A" may stand for "Andrew") who lived in the community of Valley, Rice County, Kansas at the time of the 1880 census. At that time the family consisted of John A., age 39, born IA, his wife Sarah E., age 29, born IA, and six children: Charles E. age 10, Thomas W. age 8, William A., age 7, Julie E., age 6, James F. age 2, and Samuel K. age 5 months. The first four children were all born in Missouri (probably Jackson County); son James was born in Arizona; and Samuel was born in Kansas. I believe that John was a son of James A. Jackson of Lone Jack, Jackson County, Missouri and his wife Malinda Burns. What happened to John A. Jackson's family? In 1900 he was living in Center, Rice County, as a boarder in the household of one Lee Whitt. He was listed as a widower. Where is his family? Was John's wife Sarah Elizabeth Baker, born about 1852 in Iowa? Did they have many other children -- at least 12? Were they divorced or separated some time between 1880 and 1900? Was Sarah E. Jackson married a second time to a Mr. Ballard, and did she moved to Bates County, Missouri? Thanks for any help. Nancy Notify Administrator about this message?
