Need information on my gr. grandmother, Cora Bales born Nov. 27, 1874 in Ray or Caldwell county Missouri. Her parents were Pleasant M. Bales and ???? Petree/Peterie. Her mother died when she was born or soon after and she was sent to Kansas to live with maternal grandmother & aunt. Most likely they were in the area of Stafford, Rice and Reno counties. Her father re-married in 1881 to Ida Sauers, but Cora stayed in Kansas. She married Roy Leighton "Leat" Shipler on Febr.26, 1893 and they lived in the Rice and Reno county area until 1917 when they moved to Crowley Colorado where they ran a grocery store and cafe.
I have not been able to find her anywhere in Kansas until her marriage with Leat. Her mothers' name may have been Ellen or Alice, and her grandmother may be Melissa Peterie, but I haven't been able to verify any of that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
