I can't help you with your mystery but I am wondering if we have a connection.

My grandparents, Gustav Paul Kuhn (or Paul Gustav Kuhn) and Lydia Helene Hemmann Kuhn came to the USA from the Wildetraube/Tschirma area of Germany. As you mention both Kuhn and Hemmann I was wondering if they might be the same families. Lydia Hemmann appears to have been born in Gros. Cundorf. When they came to the USA, they changed the spelling to Kuehn, went to Perham Minnesota, then Medford Wisconsin, then East St. Louis Illinois and finally St. James Missouri.
