I hope you are still reading messages from this post. It caught my eye because I am researching our family name of Ruff, who supposedly immigrated from the Black Forest area of Wuerttemberg with a Scholl family and settled eventually in Fairfield County, Ohio. There are any number of ways that the Scholl families spelled their name upon settling in America for any number of reasons, thus you might benefit from checking out various soundex spellings in your search. The most common ones are Scholl, Schull, Shull and Sholl. Please email me privately at to discuss this further.
