What an accomplishment! 45,000 descendants! I just received the Civil War pension record of Peter Humphrey GAINER, born Westmoreland Co., Pa. on 6 June 1845 and died in Johnson Co., Missouri on 11 Oct 1891. When his widow, Margaret A. Hauck (daughter of Conrad and Susannah Hauck, formerly of Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., Pa.) applied for her widow's pension in 1893, she had a Notary Public prepare a complete transcript of the Peter Gainer Family Bible. That record shows that Peter's parents were John GAINER (b. 4 Oct 1805 - d. January 1874) and Elizabeth KUNKLE (b. 6 Nov 1807 - d. 8 Sep 1878). Both John and Elizabeth were born, I believe, in Westmoreland Co., Pa. and died in Johnson Co., Missouri.
I noticed on the LDS Ancestral File the presence of a Jacob HECK (1807-1845) who was married to an Elizabeth Kunkle, b. 19 Nov 1807 in North Huntington, Westmoreland Co., Pa. and died 19 Nov 1879 in Johnson Co., Missouri. I wonder if this Heck isn't, in reality, HAUCK, and that there was some relationship by marriage between Peter H. Gainer and Margaret A. Hauck, (apart from their own relationship, of course).
I'd be delighted to learn anything new about Elizabeth Kunkle Gainer's ancestry you might have!
