Hello: My Great Grandfather worked at the Kunkle Sawmill/ferry at Rising Sun Kansas that made accesible transport from Lecompton Kansas (then the Capitol of Kansas) in 1862-1864....The owner was Jerome Kunkle son of Jacob P. Kunkle, whose father Jacob was born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The brother of Jerome was Charles W. Kunklem born Mar. 14, 1831 in Lycoming Co., Pa., he married 8-02-1855 to Anna McCoy, born in Pa. Charles operated the ferry for 2 yrs, until 1860...later Jerome was in New Mexico, Charles in Jefferson Co., Kansas, near Rising Sun...the father Jacob P. went to gold fields and was over the west States. Considerable history available on Kunkle and McCoy family. I want to get ancestral chart for Jerome and any info on the sawmill and ferry in Kansas. Frank Shrimplin 785-945-3354
