Frederick, Maryland Evangelical Lutheran Church
March 5 buried Heinrich Kuntz's wife Dorothea, born a Federkeilin from Germany. Married 1756. In matrimony 42 years, had 7 children, 2 sons and 5 daughters, of whom 2 daughters died. She had 32 grandchildren, of whom 12 also died before she did. Died March 3, aged 65 years.

Very interested in researching the DNA of this Koontz family in Frederick Co., Maryland. Heinrich's son was Balthasar Koontz b. 1767, who had a son, Balthasar.

we are descendants of Balthasar Kunz m. Catherine Unknown.
The first record we have of our Balthasar is a land record for McNishes Run in 1766. Our Balthasar (b 1730's?) had a son, Henry Koontz b. 1758 who m. Susannah Schaeffer. Our Balthasar migrated from Fred. Co., VA, to Rockingham Co., in 1770 to Greenbrier the very early 1800's.
Henry migrated from Rockingham Co. to Monroe Co. to Nicholas Co., Virginia in the mid 1790's.

Henry and Dorothea's son may have named their son after a close friend, Balthasar Fought/Faust. But what if our Bathasar named his son after a brother, and visa versa.
We are very interested in finding a male Koontz from this family to do DNA testing with FamilyTreeDNA. Please contact me. All you have to do is swab your mouth three times and mail in the swabs. Our informal research group could help with the cost.
Thank you, C. Bloomfield
