KUNZE/DERSCH FAMILIES IN NJ/NY
The 1910 Census for Ft. Lee, NJ shows my wife's grandmother, Irene Kunze, living with her parents, Chas. (Charles?) and Laura Kunze, in the household of what appears to be "Mesir" Dersch. The handwriting is not completely legible but I'm wondering if what I took to be "Mesir" is actually "Maria"? For the rest of this posting I am going to assume this is correct.
Other info found on the Census form is that Maria was 75 years old at the time and Laura was 29, so Maria could have either been Laura's mother or grandmother. Maria is listed as the widowed head of household so her husband had already died. Her deceased husband's name was possibly John. The house was located on Anderson Avenue and Maria, Chas., Laura and Irene were the only occupants.
Maria Dersch had either 14 or 17 children (hard to decipher), 9 of whom were still alive when the census was taken. With that many children I believe there has to be a lot of uncovered information on this family. I've found other Derschs from the same period and in the same general area. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? I would be interested in any and all info you have regarding the NJ/NY Kunzes and Derschs. Thanks.
