Stephen, thank you. That thought had not occurred to me however, it is a possibility.
On the earliest census records, because Jacob is not listed on the 1800 Buncombe Co. NC census as an individual but "appears" to be the male 16/25 living in Abraham's household while his mother Eliozabeth, was alive. The first time that his name appears as an individual, is 1810 and is 26/45 whereas James is listed in 1800 as an individual shown to be 26/45 and is over 45 in 1810.
In the event that the 16/25 male in 1800 is someone other than Jacob, I have wondered about the male age 0/10 in the 1810 census in the household of Abraham, son of James.
The following is lenghty but may help someone with my problem.
In 1800 Buncombe Co. NC Abraham's household is son Jacob (16/25).Abraham's wife Elizabeth over 45 and himself age over 45.
His first census - 1810 Buncombe Co. NC census:Males under 10 (4) 26/45 (1)Females 16/26 (1)
1820 census Buncombe Co. NC -Jacob KeykendallMales under 10 (1) 10/16 (3) 16-18 (1) 16/26 (1)26/45 (1) Females under 10 (2) 26/45 (1) over 45 (1)
I am uncertain as to who the older female is in his household in 1820, could she be his stepmother Bathsheba?.
Explanation of household:Malesin household - 16/26Jesse born 1800 20 years old16/18Isaacborn 1802 16 years old10/16Joseph born 1804 16 years old,Thomas born 1809 11 years old, John born 1810 10 years old.Under 10 Robert born 1816 age 426/45 Jacob born ca 1780 age ca 40.Females in householdunder 10Elizabeth born 1812 8 years old.The second child under 10 not identified.26/45 Nancy born either 1781 or 178535 or 39 years old. She was on the 1850 census living with her son Rev. Joseph Kuykenall and on the 1860 census living with her daughter Elizabeth who married Charles W. Jenkins.
There was one other child born after the 1820 census: Jacob Richmond Kuykendall born in 1820 just after the 1820 census. He is later on the 1840 Henderson Co. NC census. I have wondered why the middle name "Richmond".
In 1830, his son Thomas is the only Kuykendall included on the census that year.Soon after, Thomas and his family moved to Georgia.By 1840 Jacob's son, (Rev.) Joseph had returned tothat portion of Buncombe Co. which became Henderson Co..A census for Henderson Co. was separate from Buncombe and included his sons Joseph, Jesse, Robert and Richmond. Many of their descendants remain in Henderson and Buncombe Co. NC today.
Jacob and Nancy had seven sons and one daughter identified. One daughter unidentified.
In 1850 Henderson Co. NC the widow Nancy Kuykendall age 67 is living in the household of her son Reverend Joseph Kuykendall and his third wife Hannah (nee Capps, d/o William and Nancy (Cooksey) Capps who they had agreed to support for the remainder of their lives. The 1850 Henderson Co. NC census Joseph Kerkendall 46,included his third wife Hannah (Capps) 43with children beginning with his younger children, Jacob 18, Jane 16, Alfred 14, Philip 12, Newton 10 and his children by his secod wife Rebecca Green, Wm 8, Mary 6, also his mother-in-law Nancy(Capps 78 and his mother Nancy Kerkendall 67.
The last census of Jacob with his family is 1820 Buncombe Co. NC. The last record of him is a deed dated 9 Dec 1820 wherein Jacob sells 100 acres to Edward Shipman on waters of Mud Creek including the house where William Hall lived and a conditional line between said Jacob Kuykendall and James Hall. (Buncombe Co. NC Deed Book 16 page 69.) This was a piece of land conveyed to him by his father-in-law John Thomas, Sr.
The earliest land recordof Jacob is as a witness:5 May 1800 - Deed - Buncombe Co. NCDeed book 9, page 118,119

The meeting house spring has been located in the vicinity of the cemetery and what used to be called the meeting house, Mud Creek Baptist church.
To further examine the year of birth for Jacob; As a witness in 1800, if he was at least 18 years old, he would have been born ca 1782.As a property owner in 1805, five years plus the 18 yrs, he would be 25 years old or born 1782.To me, he could not be the son of Abraham age 0/10 (18001810), first son of James.Based on the 1800/1810/1820 census, it averaged out to a year of birth 1775/1794 and then connected the land records to average about 1780.Ca 1780 is the year of birth which I have applied to my Jacob Kuykendall (wife Nancy Thomas)who were married after the 1800 census was taken. In 1800, the male 16/25 (1775/1784) in Abraham and Elizabeth's houseold, would indicate him to be son of old Abraham.
So, in my opinion, no he is probably not a twin to James, nor a grandson of James.
Any other suggesions?Again, I do appreciate your response.
