My grandmother, Bessie Mae Jeter (later, Geter), b. 8/20/1898 in the area of Lexington, KY, d. 4/1998 in Denver, CO, married Clifford Byron Drake b. 9/18/1908 (Kentucky or Ohio) d. 2/25/1965, Lexington, KY. They were married 8/29/1927. Bessie's parents were Virginia Goss and Isaac Jeter. Clifford's parents were Eliza Smith and Melvin Drake. Melvin's father was Levi Drake born in Maysville, KY. My grandmother, Bessie, had about 10 siblings; Grace, Stella, Elbert, Ben are the ones I can think of without looking up all of the names. Many of the siblings died young. Elbert had several children, including a daughter name Ethyl, who lives in Kentucky. I was just visiting Ethyl a few weeks ago, and she said that her mother raised her and her siblings by herself, because Elbert died. I think there were at least 5 children. I had always thought his name was Albert, but Ethyl said it was Elbert. My grandfather, Clifford Byron Drake, had a brother, Ray. Clifford and Ray had some older half-siblings. One half brother owned Boone caverns back during the Depression. My grandfather, Clifford, did a lot of exploring of the cave. It gave him nightmares; he would crawl on the floor while asleep, as if he were crawling through the cave. I know that there are some relatives named "Brock," and some relatives named "Adams," but I'm not sure how they are related. Family legend has it that we're related to Daniel Boone and John Quincy Adams, but I haven't been able to find documentation. Looking forward to hearing from anyone with information on these family lines.
