Is it possible that Clement's full name was Clement Herman Henry Taphorn? I have an ancestor by that name in my tree. He emmigrated to the US in 1844 according to census records and was naturalized in 1856. He was born on 03 Janu 1835 in Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany.
He married Louise Bush in 1867 in Nashville, Tenn. He fought in the Civil War with in Co. D. of the 9th Regiment of Kentucky.
I have a document that states that Godparents at his baptismal were Herman Hinrich Haverkamp and Catharina Margaretha Holtermann.
