Hi! Looking for information on the following families:
STEPHENSON/Stevenson -- JOHN b. 1776 in KY or PA was in Champaign Co., OH by 1806. CURRENTLY HAVE NO PARENT OR SIBLING INFO. John married Jane Hatfield of VA @1810 in Champaign/Logan Co., OH and they had 9 children there; William, Rebecca, Issac Z. (named after Isaac Zane?), Celia, Samuel, John, Harvey/Henry, Ira and Eri.
In 1833, John Stephenson and Jane Hatfield moved with 8 of their children to Jefferson Township, Cass Co., OH. (Their daughter Rebecca stayed in Logan Co. and married Robert Dickinson in 1833).
John Stephenson was "from Kentucky" according to a book on Logan Co., OH history. Most later census docs. refer to him as from KY, however, a few refer to PA -- and it's my family lore that indicates he was Pennsylvania Dutch (German). I haven't been able to find anything conclusive about him in KY or PA after extensive searching.
I've been looking at other families like the Hatfields, Fidlers and Henrys (below) in hopes that I can find more info. on John Stephenson.
HATFIELD -- Steward/Stewart Hatfield and his wife, Rebecca FIDLER moved from Fauquier Co., VA to Champaign/Logan Co., OH in 1808/1810. Their daughter, Jane Hatfield b. 1790 married John Stephenson (above) in @1810 with 1st child born in 1811.
FIDLER/Fidler -- Rebecca Fidler's father was Thomas Fidler of VA. She might have been related (sister) to Permelia Fiddler of Culpeper Co., VA who married George Henry and came with their 8 or so children to Champaign/Logan Co. in 1808. Permelia's father was also a Thomas Fiddler.
HENRY -- George married Permelia Fiddler in Culpeper Co., VA and had several children there before moving with his family to Belmont Co., OH in 1807 -- staying 1 yr. -- then moving to Logan Co., OH in 1808 and staying the winter with Isaac Zane before settling there in their own place that spring.
One of George & Permelia's sons married a Nancy STEPHENSON (relation to John?) @1811 in Logan Co., OH. Nancy Stephenson/Stevenson was from "Stevensons of Kentucky" per a book on Logan Co., OH history.
