I am a descendant of James Twyman and his first wife, Teresa James.who died 16 Jan 1816 in Scott Co., KY
I was at the Thomas D. Clark History Center, 100 West Broadway in Frankfort, Ky 40801, today in the Martin S. Schmidt research library. There was found a letter writen by Clare [Thompson]Twyman, his second wife. She called herself and signed herself Clare Twyman. Her typed letter of 30 January 1818 to Revd. Bruetan said "But having changed my name that you may know who I am I must inform you that on the 20 of October last I was married to Mr. James Twyman a widower with 9 children 56 years old..." She goes on to ask about her brother Thomas who went into the Army? ~also whether my sister Henrietta still lives with Rev. Mr. Dubois? My sister Green tenders her respects and begs a place in your prayers."

[I think a few children may have left home by then.]
