Hi Keith.

Father Hebert was a Catholic priest who spent much of his adult life compiling records in LA. He published 2 series of records -- one for SW LA (Acadia, Calcasieu, Lafayette, St. Landry, and St. Martin Parishes) and one for South LA. The SW LA records consist of 41 volumes, covering the time period 1756-1910, and includes most church and courthouse records that still exist. The first 31 volumes (through 1900), are also available on cd.

The two references I sent you point to the "Church Point Church", which is
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church
114 N Bienvenu St
Church Point, LA 70525-3010
Phone: (337) 684-5494

The actual church records have been published and copies can be found in some libraries in LA. I haven't actually seen them yet.

For more information about the books, see www.hebertpublications.com

Karen
