I realize this is a long shot but we are looking for any information and leads on the Steen family in the New Iberia Parish region of Louisiana. Possibly relatives in Acadia Parish, as well. I am looking for the Steen's who owned a plantation in the New Iberia Parish region sometime in the very early 1800's possibly up to the late 1800's (may still be in the family - we don't know). My ggg-grandmother, Elizabeth "Eliza" Steen, was born in 1817 in New Iberia, Louisiana [we don't know her parents names]. Her family is supposed to have had a plantation in that area. Eliza married a Dr. Johnson [possibly Robert Peter or Peter Robert] and they had a daughter, Mary War Nan Johnson, born 1837 in New Iberia. I did find a Steen Cemetery in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, but am not sure if this is the same family. May be as the parish is more-or-less just one parish over. Would appreciate any info on this cemetery, too, including names/dates of individuals buried there. Could not find the cemetery on find-a-grave website. We're having trouble finding anything on this family and would appreciate any information or leads. Thank you. Notify Administrator about this message?
