I've just received information that changes my earlier posting about Leona Valentine/Volentine. I've learned that her maiden name was Hamilton, not Young. Leona's daughter Martha Ann Volentine married a Young (James Lafayette Young).
Leona married my 2G-grandfather, William John Valentine/Volentine, at Jena, LaSalle Parish, LA on 9 Dec 1913, and they later moved to Shreveport, Caddo Parish LA, where they lived until his death there in Jan 1927. She remained there until her death in Aug 1946 and is buried in Forest Park cemetery in Shreveport. All of the records of their marriage and life in Shreveport I've found so far use the Volentine spelling for William John and Leona.
I've also confirmed that Leona was married first to William John's younger brother, Elijah Valentine/Volentine, on 18 Aug 1885 in Catahoula Parish LA. She and Elijah had two daughters, Mattie (b. ca. 1886, d. ca. 1891) and Martha Ann (b. 15 Aug 1889, d. 3 Dec 1983) in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, before his death about 1891.
I'm looking for photos and other information about Leona and William John (and his younger brother Elijah). Any leads on where I can find these will be appreciated.
