While searching Catahoula posts for more family ties I ran across an old post asking about Brittain Cemetery in Catahoula Parish. The poster received one answer stating that they did not think it existed, but it does.
For anyone interested in Brittain Cemetery in LaSalle, formally Catahoula Parish. It does indeed exist, as I have just surveyed it today about 12 miles from where I live. There are about 26 marked graves and some unmarked graves. Most are readable. The oldest burial was 1839 the latest
1985. Some of the names represented besides Brittain are: Britton (spelled differently) Barnett, Brown, Crawford, Cruse, Ellis, Grant, Guyon, Roark, Wright, Zeagler.
Email a request with topic as "Brittain Cemetary" if you would like a list names and dates of anyone in particular in this cemetery. If anyone needs directions or pictures of some of the tombs or the cemetery, please email me.
I am researching these family names: Powell, Sharp, Finlay, Pool, Wright, Taylor, Foster, Posey, Rushton and others on my paternal side and DeLeuce and Ippolito on my maternal side. Any help is appreciated.
