Need help finding information on St. Timothy's College, Louisiana circa 1860

I am researching a Civil War soldier named Herman Simmonds who died in 1934 in his 88th year and was buried in New Jersey. His obit claims that he was educated at St. Timothy's College in Louisiana and was a Confederate veteran.

Unfortunately I cannot find his name on any CSA regimental roster, nor can I find any information about St. Timothy's College.

If the college records exist it may show that Herman was his middle name which he might have gone by after the war.

Bob
