Sue, Sorry for not being more specific. I had the 1880 and 1900 census information and was hoping to make contact with a living decendant who might have more information. George married Edeline Brown after the 1880 census, 25 Nov 1880 and they had children. I have not been able to find Edeline on the 1900 census or later. On Footnote I found an entry for George and his Widow and minor children for a pension from the War with Spain.

You did a wonderful job tracing back and are right on the money. You found in a short time what took me a couple of years to find but that was back about ten years and the Internet has certainly opened things up. I had to drive to Elk Falls and visit the cemetery and now its online. I am 95 percent certain that George is the son of Gabriel and Abigail. Everything fits, his age, place of birth, and the birth places for his father and mother. I had taken a vacation from researh and just recently started again and right away found George in Louisiana. I know the pension application may be helpful but they are so expensive now that I want to use all other possibilites first. Thanks again for being so helpful.
