Michael Rodney/Redmann 1850s Louisiana

I am searching for any information pertaining to a family with the surname of Stumpf who lived in New Orleans in the mid 1850s. This family took in a young boy named Michael. Michael had a brother named Joseph who became separated from him. The boys' parents died of Yellow Fever around 1853 in the area of Bayou Sara, Louisiana. Michael's biological father was from England and his mother was from France. Their first names were Charles and Katherine. I am unsure of the surname of Charles or the maiden name for Katherine. I KNOW Michael as Michael Rodney (Indiana)- my great grandfather. However, families in Louisiana believe Michael Rodney to be Michael Redmann- descendants of Joseph Redmann, Michael's brother.

Any information pertaining to the Stumpf family living in New Orleans around this time would greatly help in my search for understanding the truth of my family history.

Thank you for ANY information.
