Help Needed with interpreting occupation abbreviation

Hallo

I am researching a McGraw(McGragh)family whom I believe emigrated from Holycross Tipperary Ireland c.1848 and by 1850 were in 3rd Ward 2nd Municipality County of Orleans where Patrick McGraw is shown working as a paver. In the 1860 census the family shows up in the first Rep. Ward New Orleans where Patrick is listed as a Lab.(labourer). What is puzzling is that the occupation of Philip the eldest son aged 21 in 1860 is given as Acct followed by a small F. As this was a recent immigrant family - I'm not sure if they were literate at immigration -it is most unlikely that Acct referes to Accountant which is what first comes to mind. I don't even know if the term accountant was in use in 1860.
I would welcome any suggestions.

Many thanks

Clare Tuohy
