Tammy, IF this fellow died in Merryville, LA, it's highly unlikely you'll find a death certificate since Louisiana didn't mandate them until several years after his death. Since Merryville and Burkeville, TX are very close, it's a distinct possibility that he is buried in the same cemetery as his parents - at least that is where I would concentrate. You don't name the cemetery or how you "found them". Was it by a physical visit or did you find them in a transcription/survey? You may have already searched these sources:

"Cemeteries of Newton County 1830-2004" by Weldon McDaniel [includes burial index]

"Newton County, Texas Cemeteries" by Mildred Salser Wright, pub. Beaumont, TX: Southeast Texas Genealogical and Historical Society c1975

I checked the catalog of the Clayton Library in Houston - they have both books. I imagine that the Beaumont Library would also have one or both. Rick
