Brownlee Ireland to Canada to New Orleans

I am researching the following Brownlee's

Edward Brownlee. He was born in about 1824 in Belfast, Ireland to James Brownlee and Margaret McMullen. He died on April 28, 1895 in Port Ryerse, Ontario. He married Rachel Oaks. He had a son named William James Brownlee and a daughter named Maude Evelyn Brownlee. William James Brownlee's son (Edward's grandson) John Edward Brownlee was the Premier of Alberta, Canada from 1924 to 1935.

John Brownlee was born on January 22, 1818 in Belfast, Ireland. He died on December 12, 1869 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He married Mary Ann Spence on January 21, 1843 in New York. He had the following children: Elizabeth Brownlee, William Thomas Brownlee, Edward Brownlee,
John Brownlee, Jr., Charles Henry Brownlee, Emma Louise Brownlee, and Ella G “Ellen” Brownlee.

John Brownlee and his two brothers Edward Brownlee and William Brownlee were from Belfast, Ireland. They left Ireland and moved to Canada. After living in Canada for a few years, they moved to New York City. It is believed that John Brownlee married Mary Ann Spence in New York City on January 21, 1843. From New York City, John Brownlee moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. Making the trip with him was his wife Mary Ann Spence, his brother Edward Brownlee, and his wife’s siblings, William Spence and Eleanor Spence. William Spence and Eleanor Spence made the trip to New Orleans with their sister because they desired to stay with her instead of being placed with other relatives. Apparently, William Spence and Eleanor Spence were orphaned. John Brownlee’s brother William Brownlee is said to have “gone west.” Whether “west” meant St. Paul, Minnesota, or Western Canada, or California is not known, since nothing more is known of this brother.
