Hi- This is NOT my family yet it sure rings bells as my family lives in No. Pointe Coupee Parish. Are you sure that you do not tie into the old Belvue Plantation Gayle family in No. Pointe Coupee Parish about Lettsworth?? James R. Gayle from S.C. had a vast amount of land up there very early as I recall like 1840s. He had a son b: 1840s named James FRANKLIN Gayle who married Cecila Tessier. (A Tessier married into my family and likely why I recall this) Anyway, I did some checking and the early James R. Gayle did have a son named John B. Anderson Gayle b: 9 April 1839 m: 27 Mar 1862 to Mary C. Brown. Looks like this is likely your John Gayle. If this fits then you will be thrilled to know that all the records are right there intact in the Pointe Coupee Parish Courthouse in New Roads, La. You can go visit the area and there are a lot of others working on this line! Look for the Gayle - Anderson combination. Happy Hunting! My family from Innis, south of Lettsworth!
