I am looking to correspond with anyone who has info on the Malone families of Union parish and surrounding parishes and counties of AR. I have traced my Malone line back to 1855 with the birth of my gg-grandfather, John Jackson "JJ" Malone. JJ married Mary Ann Hamilton around 1876 in Union parish. I have found JJ on the 1870 US Federal Census of Union parish, LA. They are listed as follows: name, age, sex, p/birth I suspect that the father of JJ may have been killed in the Civil War but I have found no trace of the father yet. JJ's death certificate names the father as "Young" Malone. The death certificate of a sister of JJ, Nancy, the father is named as "Jim" Malone, porbably a nickname for James? I have a theory that JJ may be a grandson of one Hezekiah Malone, b ca 1802 in GA. This Hezekiah is also listed on the same 1870 US Census as is JJ. Another theory is that JJ's mother maiden name may be "Young" because JJ named his first born son Young.
JJ died 1930 and is buried at Aulds Chapel Cemetery near Downsville, Union parish, LA. JJ's sister, Nancy married William Kite Harper 1888 in Union parish,LA and she is also buried at Aulds Chapel Cemetery. I beleive that I may have found JJ's brother, James. There is a J.E. Malone buried at Mt. Arrant Cemetery near Point, Union parish, LA. He was born 1860 and died 1914. He married Virgie (maiden name unknown.) I have heard that many of the older records in the Union parish court house was lost because of neglect which is very sad. This is my mother's line and it has stumped me for about two years. If someone could help me figure this thing out I would probably turn a triple somer-sault off the roof of my house. Thanx, Mad Jack
