My James Cole family is enumerated in Ward 3 on the 1870 Union Parish census, and no twnshp is listed on the 1850 and 1840 census. The land bought by James and wife Matilda was Monroe land dist, twnshp 22N, range 2W. He shows up in the Jury Minutes in the late 1830's. Cole is listed in the "early settlers" on the LA Union page, but has no contact. He is my brick wall.
