Hello,

I'm glad you located your ancestor in the Alabama-Weldon Methodist Cemetery. Are you aware that it is on the Union Parish side of the Union/Claiborne Parish line?

You asked about a sexton of this cemetery. I'm fairly certain there is none for this cemetery. I don't think any cemetery in Union Parish has a sexton - most all originated as family or church cemeteries. This area is too rural for official sextons, certainly as far back as the 1860s. Most Union & Claiborne Parish cemeteries are governed by local groups of trustees or community groups, or by some churches who own the land. None of them have any old cemetery burial plots or other records. I suggest that you post a query in a few places asking for a volunteer to photograph the cemetery for you.

I don't know there is a Claiborne Parish genealogical society. There used to be a North Louisiana Genealogical Society that met in Ruston, but I don't know if they still exist.

Good luck!

Tim Hudson
