Hello, Until today, I have had not the slightest indication that I might be descended from the much-talked-about Benjamin Bush Vines. But some information I've pieced together begins to point in that direction, and I need some help to figure out the connections. *** I found these Vines families on the 1860 UNION PARISH, LA census. . Name.................... Age/Sex.........Occ...............Birth place Butler Vines................44/M..........Farmer.............SC Jane Vines..................46/F..........Housekeeper........SC Eliza Vines.................16/F....................................MS James Vines.................13/M...................................MS Jackson Vines...............11/M................................MS Henry Vines.................6/M.................................LA Joseph Vines................5/M...................................LA ============================================= 1860 Union Parish, LA Census also has the following family: Nealy Vines.....................50/M........Farmer.........SC Sally Vines......................40/F........Housekeeper....SC Jackson Vines................22/M......Farmer................MS Washington Vines.............18/M...........................MS Robt.(Robert)Vines..........14/M...........................MS Furthermore, I found what I believe to be the same family on the 1850 Union Parish, LA census (some ages and places of birth are obviously incorrect on one of the two census records -- or on both!) Nila Vines..................43/M.........Farmer.......SC Sarah Vines............35/F..............................SC Jackson Vines..........9/M.............................AL Washington Vines........6/M...............................AL I understand that the following is true: 1. Benjamin Bush Bines, b. abt 1724 Anson Co. NC . ..........(+) Elizabeth . .......2. Daniel Vines, b. about 1750, Anson Co. NC . ..............(+) ????? . ...........3. David Jackson Vines, b. about 1773, Abbeyville District, SC. . ..................(+) Sally Nelia Hill, b. about 1775, Abbeyville District, SC . ................4. James Nelia (Nealy) Vines, b. about 1807, Abbeyville Dist. SC . ................4. Butler Vines, b. about 1816-1818, Edgefield District, SC Does anyone know where Nealy & Butler settled, or when they left SC? Could they have been in Union Parish, LA ca. 1850-1860? I also have notes that a Butler Vines purchased land in Bradley County, Arkansas ca. July 1861. I think that Washington Vines, whose father is listed as Nealy/Neely/Nelia/Nila Vines, is my gg-grandfather. What I need to know is if this Nealy/Neely/Nelia/Nila Vines is actually "James Nelia Vines," the brother of Butler Vines, and if they were sons of David Jackson Vines. Here is the information I have on "my" Washington Vines: 1. Washington Vines, b. ?, d. before 1910? ....(+) Nancy Elizabeth Adkins Smith (a.k.a. Lizzie, Effie, or Essie), b. 1857, MS .........2. William Lacey Vines, b. 1888 .........2. Mittie Effie (Effie) Vines, b. 1898 This family and their descendents probably lived in Bradley County, AR (Hermitage, Gravel Ridge, Moro Bay) between 1861-early 1900's. Any help with this line would be much appreciated. Reply here or directly via email: aseymour@telepak.net Thanks!!
