Hi, I am oriiganly from Belle Chasse right outside of N.O.I am now living in Prairieville about 10 minutes out of Baton Rouge.I have kind of been obsessed with this for the last few weeks and I am planning on making a trip soon to Napoleonville's library to see what else I can find.I did alot from tracing census's.I am still trying to put together the birth, marriage, and death notices.I have really been trying to figure out the whole land thing with Eulalie and Evariste.According to the 1860 Census Evariste inherited around $29,000 worth of real estate from his father in la Jean Louis Labadie.I do not know how law worked back then but Eulalie inherited it all.
Evariste was born Oct 24 1811 St. Malo France he died in Sept 11 1878 Assumption Parish. Eulalie was born June 23 1822 died 1860 in Assumption Parish.
What I have been able to piece together is 1850 Census Jean Louis and Evariste live next to each other.Evariste is JL's over seer.JL dies June 2nd 1854.Evariste takes over plantation. His widow Carmelite (Boudreaux) Labadie moves next door.I have found plenty of slaverecords for JL, Carmelite, and a few for Evariste from New Orleans. So I assume plantation.I know Labadieville in Lafourche is named for JL.I know his land was on the right side of Bayou Lafourche.Star was the 60 and 50 Census Post office.Labadie was a merchant and ran a store called star.I have heard of Red Star Plantation and Labadie Plantation as being possible names but I can't find proof. I have no idea what happened to the land either. As far as his family goes I have seen alot of trees with diifferent people as his ancestors but I want to find records before I say anything as definite.
Evariste had a second son Aubert born Apr. 23 1844 death unknown( some people have he died 1910-1935 and is buried at Webre Plantation. His wife is Leontine Webre born 1843.Her father was Jean Webre who owned the Webre Plantation. ( I need to research more it may still be there.I do know that it was a very big sugar mill in the 1900's called Webre-Steib.
Aubert had a son Maxim (e) born June 17 1885 and died in1962.He was marriedto Emilia Melancon they had a bunch of kids and she passed in 1959.My aunt said he remarried but I do not remember her name. He moved to New Orleans from Lafourche.
Laura Hebert b. Sept 17 1915 d. Aug 10 1998.She married Merlin Spanier in 1932-33 and they divorced not too long after.
Joycelyn Spanier b.Nov 9 1933 d.nov 7 2000 She was married to Donald Fonseca.She also divorced.
Brian Fonseca b Feb 23 1955 d.--- Mariied Joy Duplessis B.Jan 21 1955.Still married living in Prairieville.
Billi Fonseca Munsterman b.1980.
So that is one way.If you want the bros and sisters I can get them for you.I will try and send you some census records to look through.I
This is kinda convuluted and long.Let me know if I can help you with anything else. If there is anything you can add please let me know.
Oh, and Evariste and Eulalie may be buried at St. Johns cemetery.Look up cemetery's in Assumption Parish, Lafourche or Labadieville.
Thanks,
Billi
