Thanks Julie,
An interesting mystery to be solved. Does anyone know how big of a town Trenton Ontario was in 1871 and 1900? It would seem unusual to have a Louis LaBelle born 1835 in Que. living next door or in the same household as Bernard and Rosa LaBelle in Trenton in 1871, not be THEIR son, but rather be the son of a DIFFERENT Bernard Lebel & Josephte as you cite -- with Louis living in Trenton in the same general era. Accepting that the 1871 census could have mistaken LaBelle for Lebel, could the Bernard I cited be the same as yours but with Rosa being a second wife possibly after Josephte's death (some time after the 1835 birth of Louis)??? Maybe I'm making this too complicated. Do we know when Josephte died?
I've been stumped on finding ancestors of Bernard Labelle for years.
Terry
