I am trying to locate any information on my great grandmother Marie Louise LaCaze (1869-1930 abt). We have searched all church records and to no avail as to her parentage. According to what we have Marie's mother was of mixed races but her father was white. They were not married because he was married (presumable white). Lacaze and his wife had other children who were half brother and sisters to Marie. In approx. 1952 a deputy sherrif in Natchitoches told my cousin that Duel Sarpy had married his sister. This is all we know of Marie LaCaze.
In the Norbert Badin papers it is noted that a slave named Rosalie who was owned by Jacques LaCaze had two children Celestin (7/18/1798) and Michel (4/12/1801) they both married free women of color but there is nothing past this entry.
Any assistance anyone could be would be greatly appreciated.
